Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 7, 2026
Time to Read is operated by an independent developer based in the European Union.
Time to Read is an app released under a personal Apple Developer account.
We value your privacy and design the app to keep your data under your control whenever possible.
1. Data Controller
For the purposes of applicable data protection laws (including the General Data Protection Regulation — GDPR), the operator of Time to Read acts as the data controller.
If you have any questions, you can contact:
2. Data Storage
All data you create in the app (reading sessions, items, and statistics) is stored locally on your device.
If you use iCloud sync (Premium), your data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database.
We do not store your data on our own servers.
We do not transmit your personal reading data to external servers.
3. Purchases & Subscriptions
We use Apple's in-app purchase system and a third-party service (RevenueCat) to manage subscriptions.
RevenueCat may process limited data required to operate subscriptions, such as:
- Purchase events
- Subscription status
- Anonymous device identifiers
RevenueCat does not have access to your reading data.
This data is used only to enable subscription functionality and is not used to identify you personally.
4. iCloud Sync (Premium)
If you use Premium features, your data may be stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit.
We do not have access to your iCloud data.
5. Analytics
We do not use third-party analytics tools to track user behavior inside the app.
We may rely on:
- Aggregated data provided by Apple (App Store Connect)
- Subscription-related data from RevenueCat
This data does not identify individual users.
6. Website Analytics
Our website is hosted on Netlify, which may collect basic, non-identifying analytics data such as:
- Page views
- Approximate location (based on anonymized IP)
- Device and browser type
This data is used only to understand website performance and is not used to identify individual visitors.
7. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Where applicable, our legal basis for processing limited data includes:
- Providing core app functionality
- Fulfilling subscription services
- Legitimate interest in improving the app and website
Because we collect minimal personal data, most processing happens locally on your device or within Apple's infrastructure.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have certain rights under GDPR, including:
- The right to access your data
- The right to request correction or deletion
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to data portability
Because most data is stored locally on your device or in your personal iCloud account, you can control or delete your data directly at any time.
If you need assistance, contact:
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data.
Limited data may be shared with:
- Apple (payments, app distribution, iCloud)
- RevenueCat (subscription management)
- Netlify (website hosting and analytics)
10. Security
The app uses standard Apple security and encryption technologies.
11. Children's Privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Compliance with Laws
We aim to comply with applicable data protection and privacy regulations, including:
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union
- California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), where applicable
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy in the future. Updates will be reflected on this page.
